Berkeley City Ballet offers a positive and supportive environment for learning with classes that are small and personal. Within this caring setting, students learn ballet technique, discipline, self-expression, self-confidence and poise.
BCB gives excellent instruction to all students regardless of their long-term goals. Along with a sound ballet technique (which gives the students choices in college or professionally) students learn invaluable skills such as commitment, focus, team-work, initiative, bravery and many more, enhancing any future pursuit.
The school has two programs, the Pre-Professional Program and the Open Ballet Program:
- Classes for children 2-7 years old are fun and magical. Students learn basic ballet skills and use stories (Caldecott winners and New York Times Best Stories) to inspire dancing. These students have Visiting Days three times a year.
- Classes for Beginning Ballet and Intermediate Ballet for students 8-17 years old are flexible and enjoyable. These students have Visiting Days three times a year.
- Classes for students 8-18 develop quality ballet technique and performance skills. These students perform in the Nutcracker and Spring Concert.
