Open Ballet Class Descriptions
Next Registration period begins January 23. Classes begin January 30!
The following classes do not require a placement class. Unless the class is filled, enrollment is open throughout the year. Visiting Days are scheduled two times a year.
Dance with Me (Age 2-4) Toddlers learn about music, movement, and ballet alongside their parents or guardian. Exercises and activities are designed to cultivate students’ sense of coordination, as well as their rhythmic and creative abilities. Students use their imaginations, and their parents’ help to learn basic movement skills.
Pre-Ballet 1, 2 and 3 (Age 4-6) Students explore movement, classical music, age-appropriate gross motor skills, and basic ballet principles. Stories (Caldecott winners and New York Times Best Children's Stories) are used to inspire expression.
Ballet Basics (Age 7) Students continue to develop their basic ballet technique focusing on posture, flexibility and strength. Stories, as above, are used to stimulate expression and beginning performance skills.
Beginning Ballet (Ages 8-17) For young students interested in exploring ballet, focusing on the fundamentals of ballet including posture, turnout, strength, and flexibility.
Intermediate Ballet (Ages 10-17) A complete ballet class including barre and center exercises for students with previous experience.
