About Berkeley City Ballet
Founded as a non-profit organization in 1974, Berkeley City Ballet provides the intensive training and performing experience necessary to qualify young dancers for entrance into major dance companies if they wish. BCB’s advanced students audition and are selected to participate in supplementary summer workshops at renowned schools. Over the years, a considerable number of BCB graduates have continued into professional careers in dance with companies such as American Ballet Theatre, Joffrey and Dance Theater of Harlem. Berkeley City Ballet’s mission is to bring cultural enrichment and an awareness and appreciation of the art of dance to the East Bay.
